Zero is tricked into helping a "Ghost Carriage," whose passengers are spirits seeking revenge on the bandits that killed them. Their leader lures Zero aboard, but feisty Himeko's not having any of it, and a battle erupts. Zero quickly sees that the only way to save Himeko is to kill himself and continue fighting as a ghost. This selfless act turns Himeko into Kurohime. Using the forbidden resurrection magic, Zero's brought back to life and Kurohime's in trouble with the gods above--again!
